Hawaii 2018

Aloha!

I am writing this, still in jet-lag-limbo-mode after work, so forgive me if its hard to follow.

We had an amazing trip to Hawaii! We already miss it dearly, especially because we were welcomed by wintery Colorado temperature.

We always get spoiled when my parents are in town! They came in a few days early before the trip to get Lincoln acclimated. As a part of the acclimation process, Jeremy and I got to go on a date to see The Post---the first hour of the movie was fantastic and highly recommended, but I fell asleep shortly after that. I can't stay awake these days, especially with a comfy chair and my feet up!

This is somewhere near Hawaii. Side note: Jeremy and I had a very entertaining person to sit next to in our row on the flight out there, I don't want to publish the whole story on the blog, but ask us next time you talk to us. He was from Oregon and was quite the hard core hippy and thinks the government is out to get him.

The view from our room for the 5 nights that we were there. We stayed at the Marroitt in Waikalola Beach, about 30 minutes from Kona on the Big Island.

Walking on lava! The Volcano National Park was closed due to the government shut down, but we were able to see a lot of lava just outside of the park.

We took an 11 hour tour with a geologist which was the best part of the trip! In this photo, he was explaining that this is how they grow new palm trees in the lava ash to try to make the area useful again. 

This was my second favorite part of the trip, this cliff was unbelievable! 

We visited a coffee plantation on the side of a volcano, overlooking the sea. Jeremy was trying to find ways to automate the coffee plant so he could travel for work back here :)

The boss took us all out to a nice restaurant on the last day, it was so much fun! 

One more thing, Jeremy and I have a tradition that when we go to a new place we always get a Christmas ornament. This little Hawaiian Santa is the CUTEST! I can't wait to put it on next year's tree!

 Back in reality....

Charley had a short stay at the animal hospital after a run in with some rib bones, but all is well now! He got a "haircut" according to Lincoln. I can't wait for his fur to grow in soon for his sake, it is cold on our walks!!

L did GREAT at his first dental cleaning! Couldn't be more proud!

Lincoln adores this really cool veterinary play station at our local library.

In other news, Colorado passed more hygienist friendly laws, including that we can place temporary fillings (I still need to take a class to learn how to do this) and we can prescribe and administer some limited drugs/scripts. Exciting! 

Perhaps the most exciting news of all is that Jeremy has started a hobby side business where he and one of his friends set up smart home devices for people. He just started this month, and already has had several customers, including a small business, where he is actually at tonight. He has business cards, and a website (the website is in its infancy, but here is a link to get a feel for it!) He even has an option to schedule an appointment on the website, annnnd a local business number, so fancy! I am really proud of him, he found something that he really enjoys doing and of course, he is brilliant at. 

Lincoln is really getting into potty training! He can go the whole day in "big boy underwear", he might have a little slip up here and there but it gives me hope that we will only have one in diapers at a time!! He also is very eager to go on group potty dates lol

So that is a little 'catch up' from the West Side Schlossers. Life is good. My parents will be in town through the end of the weekend, freeing up time for Jeremy to do more smart home appointments and me time to sleep, it really is such a luxury to have them in town. Plus, Lincoln ADORES them!
